The Maiden’s Method
Using archetypes, the Maiden’s Method story structure lays out a pattern of progress that characters follow in Feminine tales. Audiences have become familiar with the popular Hero’s Journey and its representation of the Masculine quest. And yet there are classic female tales where the heroine doesn’t take a journey, she’s locked in a tower. The Trials and Tribulations faced by the Hero are different from the Wicked Stepmother that appears in so many women’s stories. Here, we explore the differences and duality of these literary structures. Story creators and audiences alike can use The Maiden’s Method to analyze and develop characters in a deeper, psychological and archetypal format. Follow on Youtube and the Blog to discover more about this internal process which draws characters through confrontation; with one’s origin, with one’s self, and with Femininity.
